Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The Stewardship Ministry for the Oklahoma District is four-fold. First, to encourage and educate pastors and congregations to be better stewards of what the Lord has placed into their hands. Second, to provide quality resources for congregations to be God’s stewards. Third, to help our congregations to adequately compensate our professional church workers. Fourth, to assist in the budgeting process within our District.
Thanks to all of you who are encouraging your congregations to increase their giving to support the Oklahoma District and our Synod. The largest portion of the budget directly supports our missions’ efforts within the District.
For your consideration and study: A summary of Biblical Stewardship Principles
- God has given mankind responsibility to manage all that God has created (Genesis 1:28)
- Everything belongs to God – We own nothing. (Ps. 24.1-2; Ps. 50.10-12)
- We return our first fruits to God. (Lev. 27.30; Malachi 3.10;
An extension of this is that they aren’t giving to something (such as a budget, building fund, etc., but from what God has already given to us. - All we say and do is ‘unto the Lord’. (Col 3.17)
- You are not your own, but were bought with a price. (1 Cor 6.19-20)
- You are a child of God, created on purpose for His purpose. (1 John 3.1; Ps 139.13-16)
- God is sovereign and requires our obedience. (Deut. 11.26-28)
- God asks us to be generous. (Rom. 12.8; 2 Cor. 8.1-3; 2 Cor 9.12-15; Matt 20.15)
