Who We Are

"What is the Oklahoma District LCMS?"

• The Oklahoma District of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is a community of congregations, schools, and ministries united by our confession of Jesus Christ and our commitment to the authority of God's Word.
• Across Oklahoma, Lutherans gather to worship, receive God’s gifts through Word and Sacrament, grow in faith, serve their neighbors, and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
• We are part of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, a worldwide fellowship of Christians who confess Jesus Christ as Savior and hold to the teachings of Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions.

Our Mission

"Why does the district exist?"

• The Oklahoma District exists to support congregations and church workers as they faithfully proclaim the Gospel and serve their communities. Through worship, Christian education, mercy, evangelism, and fellowship, Oklahoma Lutherans seek to make known the saving work of Jesus Christ.

Serving Across Oklahoma

"What does ministry in Oklahoma look like?"

• Sharing Christ through Oklahoma - God is at work through Lutheran ministries across our state. From urban communities to rural towns, Oklahoma Lutherans are sharing Christ’s grace through congregations, schools, and specialized ministries.
• The district works alongside congregations to plant new churches and strengthen existing ministries, especially in communities where the Gospel continues to take root.
• Lutheran ministries across Oklahoma share Christ’s love with people from many backgrounds, including Hispanic, Burmese Karen, Hmong, Liberian, and other communities.
• Campus ministries, military outreach, prison ministry, and other mission efforts bring the Gospel to people in unique places and seasons of life.

Equipping the Next Generation

Education, Youth, and Campus Ministry

• From Lutheran schools and youth ministries to campus outreach at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, and The University of Tulsa, the Oklahoma District is committed to nurturing faith in every generation. These ministries provide opportunities for students to grow in Christ, serve others, and consider vocations in church work.
