Congregations of the Oklahoma District of the LCMS undertake a wide range of mission projects and I encourage you to read about them here and share your own Mission Stories. Our Oklahoma Lutheran Women in Mission (LWML) is an organization of local LWML societies and individual members united to promote the objectives of the LWML – mission education, mission inspiration, mission service, and mission grants.
The Oklahoma District LCMS supports missions for outreach to ethnic communities, revitalization of churches, and partners with new and existing congregations who have special needs.
I am currently pastor of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Bethany, Oklahoma. I graduated from Concordia University Irvine, and later from Concordia Seminary Fort Wayne. Along with my wife Grace, I served with LCMS World Mission as missionaries in Nigeria from 1987-1993, after which I began Ph.D. studies at Fort Wayne, earning a doctorate in Islamic studies in 2006. From 1996 to 2006, Grace and I served the Iranian and Gypsy communities in Los Angeles, CA, planting Good News for All Nations Lutheran Church. We then relocated to the Detroit area where I served as Director of Ministries for POBLO, People of the Book Lutheran Outreach, supporting missionaries across the U.S. in bringing the Gospel to Arab and other Middle Eastern immigrants.
